Thomas A. Yamamoto, DDS
Meet Dr. Thomas Yamamoto
Dr. Thomas Yamamoto is from Honolulu, Hawaii. His father, Dr. Craig Yamamoto, inspired him to become an oral surgeon by being so enthusiastic and motivated about his career. After spending 14 years away from home to pursue his education, Dr. Yamamoto is eager to return home and work alongside his father. Mentorship and collaboration is a hallmark of Oral Surgery Hawaii—his father was a mentor to him and many other surgeons, and Dr. Kitamura guided him throughout dental school and residency. He feels honored to be a part of the team.
Dr. Yamamoto enjoys being able to care for patients with the most complex reconstructive needs and rehabilitation with dental implants. He finds it rewarding to work within this continuum of care and revels in the uniqueness of the oral surgery profession. Throughout treatment he remains a partner in his patient’s care and always strives to exceed expectations. When working with nervous patients, Dr. Yamamoto takes the time to educate them and help them feel comfortable.
Education and Residency
After earning his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Creighton University, Dr. Yamamoto earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery internship and residency at the LAC + USC Medical Center in Los Angeles. During his residency, he gained hands-on experience in a surgical setting and learned to administer all forms of anesthesia.
Outside the Office
When he’s not at work, Dr. Yamamoto loves to fish, cook for others, and golf (despite how frustrating it can be, he’s always up for the challenge!)
